Firelands Division History The Firelands Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is located in the "Firelands" area of Northern Ohio. It fills a geographical gap that previously existed between two other divisions, Toledo and Cleveland...although it was created based on geographical need, it was evolved because of outstanding opportunities, resources, and interest that existed. The Firelands Division proudly trains with U.S. Coast Guard Station Marblehead, OH, with the assistance and cooperation of the Coast Guard. In addition to the Coast Guard support, the USNSCC is grateful to the other armed services, as well as numerous community, civic, and patriotic organizations for their interest and support. There are also opportunities for adult volunteers , both with or without prior military experience, to become part of the USNSCC. Contact LTJG Shelly Vaughan, if you might be interested in being part of an exciting and worthwhile organization. There are some basic requirements to join--the cadets must be between the ages of 10 and 18, be free from criminal convictions, and meet the medical requirements for our program. Males and Females are both invited and encouraged to attend. There may be some disqualifications for enrollment due to medical history that include asthma, allergy that requires and epi-pen., certain medications or any medical condition that would impose a risk for the youth, please check with the Commanding Officer. Please email with any questions to determine eligibility, as some limited waivers are available for certain circumstances. All cadets must also be U.S. citizens and maintain satisfactory grades at school. |
